Job Summary Responsible for assigning and supervising work to
clinical dietitians, dietetic technicians, food service
supervisors, nutrition assistants, and food service workers.
Responsible for regulatory compliance, developing standards and
monitoring performance; reviewing and updating policies and
procedures; implementing and maintaining cost control procedures;
recruiting, hiring, and orienting staff; interacting with hospital
management and professional staff. Supervises the clinical
nutrition program and patient services (diet office, tray line,
dish room). The Chief Clinical Dietitian also works closely with
the interdisciplinary health care team to provide nutrition
services and medical nutrition therapy that are integrated and
compatible with the patient's medical program goals and objectives.
Minimum Job Requirements: Work Experience: Five years of experience
as a clinical dietitian. Three years of supervisory experience
required. Licensure/Registration/Certification Registered Dietitian
with the Commission on Dietetic Registration of the American
Dietetic Association Texas Licensed Registered Dietitian Education
and Training Bachelor's degree in clinical nutrition, food and
nutrition, or related area, granted from a U.S. regionally
accredited college or university. Completion of a didactic program
in dietetics and supervised practice program approved by the
Commission on Accreditation for Dietetics Education (CADE) of the
Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. Skills:
- Must be able to read, speak and comprehend English at a level
necessary to follow oral and written instructions and
professionally communicating at various internal meetings, media,
and professional events with the appropriate professionalism, image
- Comprehensive knowledge and application of medical nutrition
- Knowledge of nutrient analysis, word processing, and
- Ability to communicate effectively in both written and verbal
form to patients, staff, physicians, and management staff.
- Ability to plan, organize, and direct the work of others.
- Ability to organize tasks, achieve goals and work
- Demonstrated leadership and administrative experience.
- Proven ability in meeting and maintaining budget goals.
- Bilingual preferred
- Proven ability in supervising clinical nutrition program, diet
office and/or trayline supervision desireable.
