Instrumentation and Controls Design Engineer (All Levels)

As part of a diverse and hardworking team of engineers, you will design and build electrical instrumentation and control hardware specifically focused for construction and operation of liquid rocket engine test facilities. You will contribute to the team's progress by participating in all aspects of hands-on engineering to support testing new and novel spaceflight systems. You will be responsible for the electrical design, procurement, installation configuration, and operational status of test facility control and monitoring systems. This position will directly impact the history of space exploration and will require your dedicated commitment and detailed attention towards safe and repeatable spaceflight.

  • BS in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or related field
  • 1 to 10+ years of experience with industrial or aerospace facility design or operation
  • Ability to design I&C systems using CAD based electrical schematic and panel layout tools (preferably AutoCAD Electrical)
  • Demonstrate knowledge of instrumentation theory coupled with integration into data acquisition hardware
  • Proficiency with electrical diagnostic equipment (DVMs, oscilloscopes, etc.) in order to trouble shoot electrical instrumentation and control circuits
  • Basic knowledge of operation and programming PLCs
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.


  • MS degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Experience with video monitoring systems (webcam, 3G-SDI, high speed, infrared, etc.)
  • Design experience in noise reduction, shielding, and analog and digital filtering to provide high fidelity measurements
  • Advanced software development of PLC or Opto22 controllers coupled with OPC communications
  • Tuning closed loop control systems
  • Experience calibrating and operating high speed accelerometer or dynamic pressure sensors.
