UNIT DESCRIPTION Del Sol Labor andDelivery is a 19 bed unit with
11 Labor rooms, 2 Antepartum rooms, 3 OR suitesand a 6 bed
recovery/triage unit. We average 250 births per month and
currentlywork with 3 MFM's. We provide care during the Ante, Intra,
and immediatePost-partum periods, and serve the high risk
population. We have a Level 3 NICUwith In-house providers 24 hours
POSITION SUMMARY To provide professionalnursing care to patients
utilizing the nursing process. To collaborate withother members of
the health care delivery team including physicians, to
deliverquality health care.
POPULATION SERVED Core competencies willbe assessed primarily on
the following patient population served: The obstetricante, intra
and postpartum patient including but not limited to vaginal
andcesarean section deliveries. Population will also include the
neonate. GYN patientswill also be included in the population served
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Demonstrates knowledge and application of
the nursing process.
Participates and cooperates in department based Quality
Supports, maintains and provides an environment which is
supportive of quality patient care through effective use of
resources and personnel.
Practices, develops and endorses customer service skills in
relationships with internal and external customers.
Serves as the patient and family advocate with respect to
patients' right to privacy by protecting confidential
EDUCATION REQUIREDAND/OR PREFERRED
Minimum College:Associate Degree, Diploma in Nursing, or
PREFERRED AWOHN Fetal heart Monitoring - Intermediate within 1
year of employment.
RNC - OB preferred
Reads and writes Basic English with the basic skills necessary
to transfer physician's orders.
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION Current RN licensure in Texas or compact
NRP (within 6 months of employment)
STABLE (within 9 months of employment)
ACLS (within 9 months of employment)
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, ANDABILITIES
PREFERRED Reads and writes Basic English with the basic skills
necessary to transfer physician's orders.
Knowledge of body substance isolation.
Ability to listen, empathize and respond to patient, family,
internal and external partners needs.
Bilingual in English/Spanish.
