Preferred Shift: Nights/ Days Position Overview We are seeking
experienced Behavioral Health / Psychiatric Registered Nurses to
support and help grow an adult acute psychiatric unit in
Alamogordo, NM. This role is ideal for confident, independent RNs
with strong psych and/or addiction nursing backgrounds who are
comfortable managing complex patient needs in a fast-paced
environment. The unit currently serves up to 16 adult patients ,
with plans to expand capacity to 24 30 patients . Nurses selected
for this role will play a key part in supporting safe care delivery
and contributing to unit growth and development. Patient Population
Adult patients Acute psychiatric and behavioral health conditions
Co-occurring substance use disorders may be present Key
Responsibilities Practice independently while demonstrating sound
clinical judgment in psychiatric nursing. Provide routine and
complex nursing care using the nursing process (assessment,
diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation). Address
increasingly complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social
needs of patients and families. Administer medications and
treatments per protocol; monitor for therapeutic effectiveness and
side effects. Accurately document patient history, assessments,
medications, interventions, and outcomes. Educate patients,
families, and caregivers by assessing learning needs and
identifying available resources. Appropriately delegate and assign
tasks to other care providers to manage patient care effectively.

nursing skills and adaptability. Qualifications & Requirements
Education Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) Preferred Experience
Minimum 1 year of experience in psychiatric nursing, behavioral
health, or a closely related specialty preferred Experience in
acute psych and/or addiction nursing strongly preferred Licensure &
Certifications Active RN License in New Mexico or compact state BLS
Certification American Heart Association (AHA) required Ideal
Candidate Experienced in acute psychiatric settings Confident
working night shifts with adult psych populations Adaptable,
resilient, and clinically strong Interested in temp-to-perm
