Job Description:
Job Summary: The Charge Nurse is a critical member of our
nursing team, responsible for overseeing the daily nursing
operations within the nursing home. This position plays a pivotal
role in ensuring the well-being, safety, and quality of life for
our residents. The Charge Nurse will work closely with other
healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care and
supervision to residents. Key Responsibilities: Clinical Care:
Conduct resident assessments, develop care plans, and implement and
evaluate nursing care. Administer medications and treatments as
prescribed by physicians. Monitor and maintain accurate resident
medical records. Provide wound care, IV therapy, and other skilled
nursing care as needed. Supervision and Leadership: Oversee and
guide the work of the nursing staff, including Licensed Practical
Nurses (LPNs) and Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs). Ensure that
the nursing team complies with established policies, procedures,
and regulations. Act as a resource for nursing staff, providing
support and mentoring as needed. Collaborate with the Director of
Nursing to maintain adequate staffing levels and schedule
assignments. Patient Advocacy: Advocate for residents' rights and
ensure that their preferences and choices are respected. Address
resident and family concerns promptly and effectively. Foster a
culture of dignity, respect, and person-centered care. Quality
Assurance: Participate in quality assurance and performance
improvement initiatives. Conduct regular rounds to assess the
condition of residents and identify opportunities for improvement.
Ensure infection control measures are followed rigorously.
Education and Training: Provide ongoing education and training to
nursing staff to enhance their skills and knowledge. Stay current
with developments in nursing practice and regulations.
Qualifications: Current RN (Registered Nurse) license in state of
practice. Previous experience in long-term care or nursing home
setting preferred. Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking
skills. Excellent communication and leadership abilities. Ability
to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team. Understanding of
and commitment to person-centered care. BLS (Basic Life Support)
certification required; ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
