Job Description:
Summary
Position is located in the HIM section of the El Paso VA HCS. MRTs
(CDIS) are skilled in classifying medical data from patient health
records in the hospital setting &/or physician-based settings,
such as physician offices, group practices, multispecialty clinics
& specialty centers. Analyze & abstract patients' health records &
assign alpha-numeric codes for each diagnosis/procedure. Must
possess expertise in ICD, CPT & HCPCS. May also provide education
related to coding/documentation.

level certification or a Clinical Documentation Improvement
Certification.
