POSITION SUMMARY: To provide professional nursing care topatients utilizing the nursing process.To collaborate with other members of the health care delivery teamincluding physicians to deliver quality health care. POPULATION SERVED: Core competencies will be assessed primarilyon the following patient population served: Triage, assess and treat patientsof all ages presenting for emergency care for all body systems, conditions, anddiseases including but not limited to: coronary, pulmonary, neurological,skeletal-muscular, gastro intestinal, metabolic, gastro urinary/renal,gynecological, integumentary, etc. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Demonstratesknowledge and application of the nursing process
• Participatesand cooperates in the unit based quality improvement process
• Supports,maintains and provides an environment which is supportive of qualitypatient care through effective use of resources and personnel
• Practices,develops, and endorses customer service skills in relationships withinternal and external customers
• Serves asthe patient and family advocate with respect to the patient s right toprivacy by protecting confidential information
• Knowledgeablewith 100% compliance with core measures in the emergency department(evidence based and best practice demonstrated)
• Knowledgeablewith premium credit (best practice demonstrated)
• Documentspatient assessment, patient care, interventions, and reassessmentaccording to ED policy
• Providesexcellent customer services following the philosophy of the hospital andED with the guiding values in daily activities
• Plans andimplements patient care and teaching based on a total assessment and the ageof the patient
• Evaluatesand documents patient response, monitors and recognizes changes inphysiological and psychosocial status, takes appropriate action based onassessment of the patient
• Accompaniescritical care transport to higher level of care facility in accordancewith physician orders and in compliance with EMTALA transfer guidelinesshould the need arise
• Otherduties as assigned.
  
  Qualifications REQUIRED LICENSURE/CERTIFICATIONS
  • Current RN licensure in Texas or compact staterequired
  • BCLS Required
  • ACLS and PALS certification required (Applicable toFSED)
  • Those candidates with no recent ED experience willhave 6 months after hire to complete ACLS and PALS education/certification(Applicable to Main ED)
  • TNCC required within 12 months of employment ortransfer to the department
  • Successful completion of triage trainingwithin one year of employment REQUIREDEDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
    • Diploma, ADN or BSN
    • 1 Year ED Experience required (Applicable to FSED) PREFERRED EDUCATION, LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION,EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES
      • BSN preferred
      • ENPC
      • Certified Emergency Nurse
      • Acute care experience
      • Pre-hospital experience
      • Minimum 2 yrs. emergency department experience
      • Medical surgical nursing experience
      • Reads and writes Basic English with skills tointerpret and execute physician orders required
      • Ability to listen empathize and respond to patient,family, internal and external partner needs
