Shift Manager

Job Summary

This position is for 2nd shift.

The Shift Manager position is responsible for providing leadership and direction to drive distribution efforts for his or her assigned shift and/or departments. This position is responsible for managing the overall distribution process to ensure that products are shipped accurately and timely to meet customer needs along with providing visible and dynamic leadership to positively impact key initiatives.

Primary Responsibilities

• Collaborates with the DC Director to develop and understand short and long term goals. Makes recommendations for opportunities to improve efficiencies within the operation of the distribution center.
• Coordinates with Office Manager shift workload balance (Planning & Order Scheduling). Ensures supervisor accountability for cost standards. Collaborates with DC Director to ensure shift meets required productivity and cost goals. Ensures supervisor accountability for following SOP's.
• Ensures proper leadership and staffing is in place for the shift to execute daily shift requirements to service the business primarily focusing on timely shipping, productivity, quality and cost. Provides coaching and leadership development of direct reports including performance management. Oversight of the leadership team to ensure full engagement within the shift and is held accountable for morale and a positive work environment. Engages the shift to be actively involved in the facility's positive community activities. Communicates and creates a collaborative team environment with all shifts, as well as other external functional areas as needed to improve service and provide requested information.
• Ensures employees are provided with a safe work environment and adheres to defined health and safety standards. Takes an active role in the Central Safety and Health Committee.
• Ensures accountability for shift and department metrics to meet customer service requirements. Reviews and ensures the accuracy of the department metrics reported.

  • Knowledge of Warehouse Management Systems
  • Demonstrated Leadership ability
  • Microsoft Office Applications
  • Experience with Incentive Pay systems preferred
  • Strong Communication (Oral, Written, Presentation), Organization, and High Sense of Urgency
    
    Qualifications
    
    • Minimum 3 years of previous Distribution or Manufacturing Management or Supervisory Experience or at least 1 year as a Kontoor Distribution Management Trainee
    • Bachelor's Degree in business or Supply Chain Management. If no degree, significant relevant experience is required.
