Executive Director Information Security Job SummaryResponsible
for administering high level information security analysis for El
Paso Community College (EPCC). Develop security strategic planning,
tactical action, and policies to defend against unauthorized
disclosure, access or destruction of information. Essential
FunctionsResponsible for protecting the College's information and
information processing assets. Directing, planning, implementation,
and execution of security policies, activities, and facilities
against network, systems and applications security breaches and
vulnerabilities. Review application design documents and serve as
the expert advisor to development team on security techniques,
compliance requirements, and industry best practices. Manage
threats and incidents impacting the College's information
resources. Participate in the development of information technology
disaster recovery and business continuity planning and serve on
security incident response teams. Promote information security
awareness, risk management, best practices for physical and data
security regarding information technology resources, business
impact, and risk analysis. Manage vulnerabilities within the
information processing infrastructure. Audit existing systems and
direct the creation and administration of information technology
security activities and standards. Conduct periodic audits of
internal network, systems applications, and security controls to
validate effectiveness and identify risks. Research, evaluate, and
assist in recommending continuous security enhancements for the
prevention, detection, containment, and correction of data and
network security breaches. Assure through policy, appropriate use
of the College's information resources. Develop goals, objectives,
and policies to ensure EPCC is in compliance with all applicable
state and federal data and network security guidelines, rules, and
statutes. Review security technology contracts for goods and
services to ensure that data and network aspects are properly
addressed. Monitor contractor and vendor performance to ensure
compliance with terms and conditions. Train employees and students
to adhere to information security and privacy protection
responsibilities. Keep abreast of evolving technologies to ensure
appropriate security controls are implemented and maintained as
College processes change. Promote security awareness. Perform
personnel management activities of assigned staff, including
recommendation for employment, supervision, orientation,
performance evaluation and guidance, and support concerning
professional development. Mentor and train staff on policies and
procedures. Recommend and manage all assigned and approved budgets.
Perform other duties as assigned. QualificationsRequired
Qualifications:1. Master's degree in Information Technology,
Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Management
Information Systems, Business, or related field and six (6) years
of related work experience with direct experience in maintaining an
information resources technology security program, working in
business continuity and disaster recovery, and experience in
planning and managing projects or an equivalent combination of
education and experience which demonstrates possession of the
required knowledge, skills, and abilities.NOTE: A copy of the
transcript reflecting this required education MUST be submitted for
consideration and reflect completed coursework and degrees
conferred. The candidate must be fully qualified for the position
at the time of application.2. At least one of the following major
relevant certifications within a year of employment: Certified
Information System Security Professional (CISSP), Certified
Information System Management (CISM), Certified Information System
Auditor (CISA), or Certified Protection Professional (CPP). 3.
Ability to resolve complex security issues in diverse
environments.4. Ability to supervise, lead, and delegate tasks and
authority.5. Ability to configure, deploy, and monitor security
infrastructure.6. Ability to maintain confidentiality of work
related information and materials.7. Working knowledge of
networking, operating systems, internet, and data security
application support.8. Knowledge of local, state, and federal laws
and regulations relating to information security. 9. Experience
developing and conducting presentations. Other

must be accompanied by a full translation (word for word) by a
current member of the National Association of Credential Evaluation
Services (NACES). Additionally, each foreign transcript must be
evaluated for equivalency to United States accredited coursework by
an agency certified by the National Association of Credential
Evaluation Services or accredited by one of the regional
accrediting bodies such as the Southern Association of Colleges and
Schools. Applications containing foreign transcripts that are not
accompanied with the above required documentation will not be
considered.Out-of-town candidates invited for an on-campus
interview will be reimbursed for one-half of the transportation
cost for travel performed within the United States. The College
will arrange and pay for up to two nights lodging. In accordance
